The chest

Here is another first draft synopsis entitled 'The chest' this story came about because of a project we had to do for uni but we only did the character designs and brief synopsis, however I liked the story I created so much that I decided to develop it further.

The chest

A fisherman is collecting his catch when he discovers there’s a chest in his net. He goes to open it hoping to find treasure, unfortunately what he found made his stomach turn. It was a woman’s body that was cut into tiny pieces. He threw up before calling the police.

The police arrive on the scene and take the remains to the morgue, during the autopsy they determine that the victim new her attacker as there were no defensive wounds. Now that they have the identity of the victim they were about to inform the family when a man walks in to the station and shouts that he killed the woman in the chest.

This causes the investigators to step up their investigation and interview the man. He proceeds to tell them that his name is Richard and why he killed his woman.

*flashback

*Richard is walking through the town when he notices that his wife’s ring in the window of a pawn store. He goes in demanding to know who brought that ring in. The clerk told him that a man came in and told him that this ring was his fiancée’s who is ill and that he needs the money to pay for her medication. Richard then corrects the man saying that the ring actually belongs to his wife and demands to know who this man is, however he refuses to reveal that information. This leaves him enraged so he heads home and confronts his wife demanding to know who this man is she is seeing. However he doesn’t give her a chance to register what he was asking her, he grabs a knife and stabs her in the throat and torso. He then kneels over the body as he feels remorse for killing his wife but he has to get rid of the body so he gets there chainsaw and cuts her up into tiny pieces then places 

them in the chest.

Richard then drives with the chest to the dock and dumps the body. However he feels guilty and that is why he came in and confessed his guilt.

The detectives throw Richard into a holding cell and begin to search for the seller of the ring. They go to the pawn store and acquire the security tapes and watch them until they find the perp who sold the ring. They identify him, arrest and interrogates him to find out how he got the ring.
